The importance of patern visual evoked potentials in patients with pituitary tumor invasion of paracellar regions

Objective: Patients who had pituitary tumors were investigated using patern visuel evoked, potentials to show the tumors invasion to paracellar region.
Study Design: In 27 patients P-VEP examinations were compared with neuropthalmologic findings and magnetic resonance imaging.
Results: In patients who had pituitary tumor we found that PI00 amplitudes were decreased. In 25 patients P-VEP examinations were pathologic.
Conclusion: The results showed that it was a quick way of searching supracellar invasion and testing of optic pathways.

Amaç: Hipofiz tümörlü hastalarda parasellar yayılımı göstermede pateni visuel evoked potansiyellerin yararı incelenmiştir.
Materyal ve Metod: 27 hastada P-VEP incelemeleri nöroftalmolojik ve hipofiz manyetik resonans görüntüleme ile karşılaştır ılmıştır.
Bulgular: Hipofiz tümörlü hastalarda PI00 amplitüdlerinde düşme saptanmıştır. 25 hastada incelemede P-VEP patolojik bulunmuştur.
Sonuç: P-VEP incelemesinin suprasellar yayılımı göstermede çabuk bir tarama aracı olarak kullanılabileceği ve optik yolların tutulumunu gösterebileceği gözlemlenmiştir.
