Objective: To determine the reference intervals for triglyceride, LDL, LIDL and total cholesterol in the individuals living Edirne and neighborhood region and therefore, to present any possible risk factors to face with for the development of coronary artery diseases which were associated with hyperlipidemia in these population.
Study Design: Patients, born and lived in Edirne, Kirklareli and Tekirdag, applied to Hospital of Trakya University Faculty of Medicine included in this study and their plasma triglyceride, LDL, IIDL and total cholesterol levels were determined. Obtained data were istatistically treated to establish the regional reference values.
Results: The mean plasma triglyceride, LDL, HDL and total cholesterol levels were determined for all the age groups. Although triglyceride levels were higher in men when they were compared to women, LDL, HDL and total cholesterol levels were found to he higher in women (p<().()()l ).
Conclusion: Finding of both the high plasma triglyceride, LDL and total cholesterol that were found to be directly associated with increased risk of developing coronary artery diseases and low HDL cholesterol levels that also reported to have a protective role on these conditions may indicate that the regional population might be sensitive for developing coronary artery disease.
Keywords: Triglycerides, cholesterol, LDL, HDL, reference intervals.
