8 - The results of radiotherapy in epidermoid lung cancer patients

Objective : In this study, it is aimed that evaluation of 174 lung cancer patient with epidermoid hystopathologic type to their treatment and survivals, retrospectively.
Study Design : The years of 1996-1999, 174 epidermoid lung cancer patient who had been treated and followed up in Şişli Etfal Hospital are evaluated retrospectively.
Results : All of the patients, the peak age was 61 (33-31). 174 of patiets were male and 2 of patients were female. Treatment methods are; Stage 1-11: 9 patients were received surgery ( segmentectomy ), than RT ( 50Gy ) . 8 patients were medical inoperabl and they were received only RT ( 50Gy), 1 patients were not received any adjuvan treatment after surgery.Stage IIIA: 6 patients were received adjuvan RT+KT after surgery, 4 patients were received RT, 32 patients RT+KT, 11 patients were received only KT. Stage IIIB: 2 patients were received RT, 53 patients RT+KT, 16patients were received only KT. 114 of patients were given conventionel radiotherapy, 8 of patients were given pallative radiotherapy.
Survival was 15.7 months in stage 1, 14.6 months in stage 3A, 11.3 months in stage 3B and 10.12 months in stage 4 patients.
Conclusion : Age, stage, performans status are found to be deciding factors in epidermoid lung cancer patients.
